Transit Task Force: Two Months Later

Sensa huma is next to the funny bone, and is probably the most important bone in the body. Can’t live without it. Sensa huma is what gets us through.

It helps now as we wait for the governor to give direction.

“Who will take the initiative to make sure the recommendations will move forward?” State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (88th District) asked at the final transit meeting. State DOT Commissioner Joan McDonald replied, “Our charge was to make recommendations. It’s up to the governor and the Thruway Authority to see what are the next steps.”

Meantime, how to carry them out, and pay for them, are on hold.

How long does it take to order, or special-order, buses? What if some munis don’t want bus rapid transit stops? Or if they don’t have land to spare? Which agency will oversee the project, and will it face penalties if the BRT system isn’t ready when the new bridge opens in 2018?

And then there were tolls. Several people commented when I suggested that trucks pay more on the new bridge. Here’s a fare chart for the Golden Gate Bridge.

I’d like to know what you think.
