Last Thursday was the deadline for the 2014 Bridge Art Show, a collaboration with ArtsWestchester, Rockland Center for the Arts, Rivertown Artists Workshop and Nyack Art Collective. I look forward to see the exhibition at the Outreach Centers.

Meantime, pile cleansing continues, the concrete batch plant is in operation, and the project continues on schedule. It was very cool last week seeing workers walking inside one of the football field-sized pile caps, some perspective on the massive structure being built in-river.

Stay away from the U.S. Coast Guard’s Safety Zone, and heed the expanded Regulated Navigation Area (RNA). Both are explained here by Charles W. Rowe, USCG Public Affairs, Sector New York.

Details — including the Coast Guard’s weekly Local Notice to Mariners, excerpted and in its entirety — are listed under Boater Safety Information on the New NY Bridge website. A LNM primer is here.

Today through Friday, the northbound right lane approaching the Tappan Zee Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Yesterday, too, plus the northbound right lane near Exit 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nothing like heeding my own words. At least three times in the past two weeks I drove to Rockland, wondering why westbound traffic began to accumulate before Exit 9 in Tarrytown. So soon I forget.

I’d like to know what you think.
