Leading Supplier of Stone for NNYB Project Temporarily Halts Deliveries
Although both floating concrete batch plants were shut down, one of the New NY Bridge’s leading suppliers of stone for the project will not be affected.
“Tilcon New York is working with Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC (TZC) to assure that their need for materials is met,” company spokesman Geoff Thompson said via email. “The mechanical issues involving the concrete batching plant have obviously impacted the schedule of materials delivery.”
The company operates quarries and other construction facilities across the state, per the New NY Bridge website. “Tilcon’s Clinton Point facility in New Hamburg delivers immense quantities of crushed stone on a regular basis.”
While delivery has temporarily ceased, Thompson said, “there is no negative impact on our overall operations.”
“We have removed our barges containing materials that were moored at the site, and will resume delivery when notified by the bridge contractor in the first quarter of 2015,” he said.
Stone from the Empire State will continue to make the bridge “rock solid” once operations resume.
I’d like to know what you think.
