Greeting the Crane and Meeting the Governor
We were on the phone five or six times the day before to be sure we’d both get there at the same time. Of course I got lost.
Phil had been taking pictures since from his New Jersey home since early morning and was getting ready to drive north to Piermont to meet me.The I Lift NY had left lower Manhattan and was heading north.
What I remember about today six months ago is the I Lift NY:
and introducing myself to Governor Cuomo:
At the press conference that followed the governor was asked about tolls and about the task force he proposed in 2012 to address this.
“We don’t know how much we will we get from the federal government, how much we will get from the state; there are state loans and grants we can access,” he said, citing the variables. Additional unknowns are the built-in contract incentives for Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC (TZC) to finish the project before spring 2018 or penalties for completing it later.
“Once you have those numbers, then you can come up with a plan about how to do it, what commuters should pay, on-hour, off-hour, etc.,” he said.

It was asked during a recent presentation and months later remains an unknown.
The 2015-2016 state budget approved $1.285 million from settlement funds. This and the TIFIA (Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act) loan help offset costs of Thruway investments including the $3.9 billion bridge project.
I’d like to know what you think.
