School’s Open, Lanes are Closed and a Detour

Last Thursday morning I heard young voices outside my window. They didn’t wake me; they reminded me school started, which meant another, older group of kids would appear within the hour for a second bus.

No more right turns on red, no more wearing white after Labor Day (says who?) and other signs that summer’s done; seasonal changes brought personal changes as well.

This week brings another detour and two closed southbound lanes overnight today through Friday:

Note: access to the Thruway southbound will be via Route 59 in Nyack both tonight and tomorrow. while the Exit 10 on-ramp is temporarily closed.

I hope the toll gantry opens soon. Last week a truck nearly plowed into my car as it gained speed after passing through the toll plaza. Two months ago when crews were repaving the Thruway past that area it was bedlam with cars every which way, some horizontal, with nowhere to go. The backup began before the tolls; it took nearly an hour to get through because all lanes past the tolls except one had been closed. You had to be there.

Check here for the complete list of project activities.

I’d like to know what you think.
