Journalist Khurram Saeed to be NNYB Spokesman
Congratulations to Journal News reporter Khurram Saeed, who is the new Director of Communications for the New NY Bridge project come December 31. Saeed was one of 32 people appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo to either the executive chamber or state agencies.
“We’re thrilled that Khurram is joining the New NY Bridge team,” Thruway Authority spokesperson Jennifer Givner.
The appointment was announced shortly after journalist Brian Conybeare resigned as special advisor to the governor. Conybeare, who oversaw community outreach during the project’s first half of construction, is now a reporter with CBS2 News in New York City.
Saeed has a B.A. in journalism from Pace University, my alma mater, and has worked for Gannett since 2000. For the past 10 years he covered transportation topics and focused on the bridge project; previously he was a City Hall reporter for The Bellingham Herald in Washington state. Saeed was also publisher and editor-in-chief at Aaj Magazine, which covered the South Asian community in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Best wishes to you, Khurram. I’m looking forward to working with you.
