More than One-Third of the Blue Girders in Place
Ten months ago the first girder assembly came downriver from Port of Coeymas, and not long after it was placed between two piers. By the end last month nearly 60,000 tons of structural steel assemblies – weighing up to 1,110-tons and measuring up to 400 feet long – were placed.
Six thousand high-strength concrete decks panels will cover the assemblies of two or three girders each on the new bridge’s approach spans, and 973 will cover the main span roadway.
I’d like to know what you think.
