Less than One Week Until Cashless Tolling Starts

Time is running out. I’m going to do it next week. Made myself a promise.

In addition to choosing lanes at the toll plaza and choosing how to pay when cashless tolling starts — if you don’t have an E-ZPass® tag on your car — you have another choice . . . and there’s less than a week for this option.

C’mon, don’t you want to drive through the toll plaza one last time? That is, if you don’t regularly commute over the bridge.

In addition to lines — and soon no more of those — there were often traffic and delays, like the night crews paved the Thruway. Horrific traffic, a nightmare! I drove into a parking lot before the toll plaza, where cars lined up and inched through at a painstakingly slow pace.

Once through the toll it was bedlam because vehicles — with nowhere to move — were at angles, some sideways, as they jockeyed to find any empty space within toll lanes merging into fewer ones on I-87.

Note the lane closures this week, and triple-lane closures the following weekend.

I’d like to know what you think.
