Once again I misjudged the travel time and got stuck on 287/the Thruway en route to the bridge. Fed up with hitting the brake then traveling three feet before tapping it again I took Exit 1 and followed Route 119 until it backed up just before the sign welcomed me to Tarrytown.

It took 20 minutes to get from there to the Thruway entrance. In addition to the bridge project motorists now had to contend with the results of Tuesday’s accident that injured five people. The clever dashboard monologue I recited as I drove was forgotten as soon as I sat down to type hours later.

The right lane prior to and after where the crane took out chunk of the bridge’s railing was partitioned off, and motorists were advised only one southbound lane would be open from 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. tomorrow. I hope everyone gets where they’re going safe.

The Nyack Classic Car Night was lots of fun! Watch for story in the September issue of Rivertown Magazine.

I’d like to know what you think.
